Where to have Churros in Barcelona, Spain?

Where to have Churros in Barcelona, Spain?

After having Churros Con Chocolate every day when we were in Madrid, we really missed this sweet snack. Churros is a fried dough pastry that isn't exactly sweet on its own but people usually eat it topped with sugar or dipped in chocolate.

During our time in Barcelona, we hunted down some of the so-called best churros in Barcelona and here's what we've tried!

Dulcinea

Located close to the La Boqueria Market and in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, you can head over for a sweet treat after having all the savoury food. Granja Dulcinea has been around ever since 1941, serving churros, chocolate, and coffee to all its customers.

The little store is extremely homely and rustic-looking and you'll see locals sitting around, chatting and enjoying perhaps one of their five meals of the day.

Although the churros was good, we still very much prefer the crispier ones in Madrid! Besides churros, they also have a plethora of other sweet treats like the Creama Catalana.

If you are dropping by, do also note that they are closed in the afternoons between 1pm to 5pm!

Granja Dulcinea

Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 21:00

Nearest metro: Liceu

Granja La Pallaresa

Just a short walk down, you'll see Granja La Pallaresa, a competitor that has been touted to serve the best churros in Barcelona. Here, you'll get short sticks of churros with a rich cup of chocolate. We loved the chocolate here more than at Dulcinea! When there's a queue, you can also opt to have it as a take-away!

Similar to Dulcinea, they close in the afternoons between 1-4pm (1-5pm on Sundays).

Sun: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Nearest metro: Liceu

Xurreria Trebol

Next up is Xurreria Trebol. Here, you don't get a fancy restaurant or cafe setting but it is a grab-and-go concept. You know it has to be good when you see a snaking queue for the churros even during a rainy day in Barcelona. We picked this up as a tasty snack before our Flamenco Show as it was nearby. You can also walk over after visiting Casa Mila.

What's different about this store was that they have churros with chocolate filled or cream filled centres! It was good that it wasn't too sweet as well! Here, you can also find other sugary treats like donuts.

Another amazing thing is that this place has longer opening hours than the previous two and even opens 24/7 on Saturdays! More time for more sweet treats!

Xurreria Trebol

Carrer de Còrsega, 341, 08037 Barcelona, Spain

Mondays to Thursdays: 9 am to 10pm

Fridays: 9 am to 12midnight

Saturdays: 24 hours

Sundays: 12am to 10pm

Nearest metro: Diagonal

We know there's more than these three places but there's so much more to eat than just churros in Barcelona and here's three that we've tried!
