As I set foot in Chongqing, one of China's most vibrant and rapidly developing cities, I was eager to enjoy a blend of relaxation and cultural exploration. When looking for where to stay in Chongqing this mega beast of a city, my attention was instantly drawn to Moxy Chongqing, tucked away in the lively Jie Fang Bei district.
With its trendy vibe and modern amenities, and part of the Marriott Bonvoy group like Renaissance Hotel in Shenzhen, I was excited to see if it would meet the high expectations set by its reputation as one of the most affordable hotels in the city.
The Location: A Tourist's Dream
Moxy Chongqing sits in the bustling JieFangBei district, a prime location that captures the essence of the city.
The area boasts soaring skyscrapers and vibrant neon lights that pulse with life, making it an excellent choice for travellers who want to dive deep into Chongqing's eclectic atmosphere.

In just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, you can reach major attractions such as the People's Liberation Monument, which sees over 300,000 visitors annually, and the busy shopping avenues filled with unique boutiques and tasty local eateries.
This prime positioning made my stay both convenient and culturally enriching.
The Design: Modern Meets Quirky
Upon entering Moxy Chongqing, I was captivated by its contemporary design, where modern style meets quirky details.
The lobby welcomes visitors with an open floor plan adorned with colourful furniture and playful artwork, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both luxurious and down-to-earth. The only cons of the lobby is that it sits right at a busy street so taxis and didi cars will have a hard time coming in and whenever you arrive or leave the hotel, you'll be greeted by tons of people! :P
Nonetheless, the modern, quirky design element of the Moxy ChongQing reflects Chongqing's youthful energy, creating an Instagram-worthy backdrop that many young travellers, like myself, would love to capture.

The Accommodations: Style and Comfort
When I stepped into my room, I was amazed at how stylish yet inviting it felt. (We arrived in the wee hours of the morning and only managed to take this photograph before we messed it up!)
The large, plush bed promised restful nights, and the sleek decor, including unique lighting fixtures, added a modern touch.

Smartly designed storage options helped me keep my belongings organised while maintaining a clean environment. Of course, the rooms are not that large, and there were only a few places where you can actually hang your clothes (no cupboard). It wasn't a huge problem for us though!
What I liked most about this room is the expansive windows, which offered breathtaking views of the city skyline, making my mornings delightful and inspiring.
I can say that the rooms are created with the comfort of guests in mind, an essential feature after a long day of enjoying Chongqing's attractions.
Local Attractions: Explore Like a Local
Staying at Moxy Chongqing puts you in proximity to numerous exciting attractions.
One of my favourite nearby spots was Hongya Cave, a stunning area featuring traditional stilt houses along the riverbank, attracting thousands of sightseers.
I also visited Ciqikou Ancient Town, where I enjoyed wandering through charming streets lined with traditional teahouses and artisan shops, immersing myself in local culture.
These highlights, along with the hotel's superb location, made exploring both easy and enjoyable.
From hiking nearby mountains to savouring spicy Sichuan delicacies, there is no shortage of adventures available to guests.
Final Thoughts on My Moxy Experience
My stay at Moxy Chongqing was truly remarkable. With its lively atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and top-notch amenities, it stands out as an ideal choice for anyone visiting this dynamic city. Not to mention the price point! For something so centrally located in the heart of Chongqing's Jie Fang Bei, and yet only costs me SGD $80 per night, what? It is a no brainer!
If you're pondering where to stay in Chongqing, look no further than Moxy Chongqing.
It checked all the boxes for me—comfort, accessibility, and a lively environment—and left me with unforgettable memories of both the hotel and the enchanting city.
